In 2009, The Port Perry Half Marathon/5K became a national leader in creating a new environmental standard of racing.
To ensure transparency and credibility for our 2009 carbon neutral race, we had a third party externally verify our environmental claims. We became the First International race to be ReSport Certified (Council for Responsible Sport) and become Canada’s First Carbon Neutral Half Marathon.

For all race logistics, decisions and purchases our first consideration is the ecological footprint. The run will be using only sustainable materials and ecologically responsible suppliers demonstrating that environmental sustainable practices can make a difference one light step at a time.
